Events We Go LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the Events WeGo mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our App. Please read it carefully.

Our servers are hosted in Germany, which means your data is processed within the European Union and subject to EU data protection law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Data You Provide Directly

  • Name and username
  • Email address
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Event details you create (title, description, location, date, time)
  • Messages sent through group or direct chat features
  • Reviews and ratings you submit

2.2 Data Collected Automatically

  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • IP address
  • App usage data (screens visited, features used, session duration)
  • Crash reports and diagnostic data

2.3 Location Data

We collect location data only when you choose to set a location for an event or search for nearby events. We do not track your location in the background.

2.4 Data from Third Parties

If you link a third-party account (e.g., Google, Apple, Facebook) to log in, we receive basic profile information such as your name and email address from that provider, subject to your privacy settings with them.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance: To provide the App's core features (account creation, event management, chat).
  • Legitimate interests: To improve the App, ensure security, and prevent fraud.
  • Consent: For optional features such as marketing communications or non-essential analytics. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: Where required by applicable law.

  • To create and manage your account
  • To allow you to create, discover, and join events
  • To enable communication between users via group and direct chat
  • To send you notifications about events you joined or created
  • To improve App performance and fix bugs
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. Data Sharing

We may share your data with:

  • Service providers: Hosting (Linode/Akamai, Germany), analytics, and crash reporting tools who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
  • Other users: Your public profile (name, photo) and event content you post are visible to other users of the App.
  • Law enforcement: If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

We require all third-party processors to maintain adequate data protection standards.

6. International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in Germany (EU). If you access the App from outside the EU, your data will be transferred to and processed in Germany. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

For transfers involving data originating in the EU to any non-EU service providers, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Specifically:

  • Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
  • Event and chat data: Retained for the duration of the event plus 90 days, unless you request earlier deletion.
  • Logs and diagnostic data: Retained for up to 12 months.

After account deletion, we may retain anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you.

8. Your Rights (GDPR and General)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): Request deletion of your data.
  • Right to restrict processing: Ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.

The App is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly. 10. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the App at your own risk.

11. Cookies and Tracking

The App itself does not use browser cookies. However, we may use mobile analytics SDKs (such as crash reporting tools) that collect pseudonymous usage data. These tools do not identify you personally and are used solely to improve App performance.

12. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may display links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before interacting with them.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document and notify you via the App or by email at the address associated with your account. Continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
